Exactly what we were looking for

My 20 month old is very active and needs a shoe that can keep up with him. These shoes have a nice deep tread (great for city or for a big mud pit), they are very structured/solid, well made, flexible enough for running/jumping/squatting, and the Velcro is very strong (unlike some other sneakers we have purchased for him). He hasn't been able to get these off of his own feet yet, so that's a plus! Even better, they are extremely easy for US to get his feet in and out of. Overall, a tough shoe for a tough little kid.

Great shoes for active boy

The shoes look great, my 6 year old can manage getting them on/off by himself.. although they were a little stiff at first. He has orthotic inserts..and they work great in these shoes. They are sturdy and still look new after 1 month of daily wear and tear.

Ok shoes

Well, this is a first pair of Stride Rite shoes that I got for my son. Heard very good stuff about this brand, including "sturdy". Have to disagree - my son was not wearing these shoes for that long, and the sides, top and the velcro strips already worn out, etc. I know he is in kindergarten and there is a lot on the "hard ground" play, but still... Also, the top strip is very short - my son's foot is not wide at all, I got him a half size bigger, and the strip barely wraps on top of his foot...Too see the price

Soles don't hold up

My 9 year old daughter loves these shoes. She is extremely picky about fit/comfort and these are one of the few shoes she will wear that have good support. Unfortunately after wearing hers for 3 months (admittedly everday) we are having to buy another pair because parts of the sole keep coming off. We have glued the same part back down twice and now it has come completely off. I thought we must have just gotten a pair with a manufacturing defect but since another reviewer has had a similar problem I'm assuming it is a design or engineering defect. We're buying them again because it's worth it to avoid the hassle of finding another shoe she will wear (though I imagine we'll be gluing the next set as well) but if other brands or models work for you I'd go in that direction instead. At least they are on sale and I'm not plunking down another $50 3 months later - ouch.

Fit great!

Our daughter has been wanting something that wasn't ugly for sometime and she is thrilled to have these. They have not caused her any discomfort and it's been over a week. We are elated as she is so difficult to fit. I have wide feet myself so I really sympathize with her. I also have foot problems and to me New Balance are the best.

Great for kids with sensitive feet

My son's feet are incredibly sensitive. It's always a battle to find comfortable shoes for him. Everything pinches and hurts. I ordered these shoes in extra wides and they are perfect. Plenty of room for him to move his toes! Too see the price
